A MESSAGE FROM GLENDA SUTTON
Camels define my existence. I am what I do - I capture adult wild camels and show them a new way of life.
What I do is based on understanding the mind of the camel and working with its body accordingly.
Having the ability to predict an animals behavior prior to its actions has given me the edge in my field.
I strongly believe the initial stages of wild camel capture and training are best carried out by one person alone, with other people introduced into the equation when the animals mind is ready to cope with variations in human behavior.
This mindset has allowed me to train some of the most talented and human friendly camels in Australia today.
My training methods teach respect for humans first, then love for humans a close and lasting second.
Over the past 21 years I have found Camel Racing to be the key to training camels for the best overall range of skills.
My race training differs from other trainers in that I am not only looking for a good outcome at speed, but also for the many and varied teaching opportunities that arise and produce great results as I travel interstate for long periods training 5 - 6 camels annually.
I race camels for the love of the journey with them, and to see how well we can do together on race days, not for the attention factor.
This sentiment has always had its difficulties, but has also given me the opportunity to show onlookers how close the relationship between a camel and a human can be ~ described by many as inspirational.
My racing camels learn to accept loading, travel, riding, traffic, people, children, night activities and so on. They have to trust me and come to know they can.
'Action Camels' comes from how proud I am of the actions of my camels, and my love of action and getting the job done rather than just talking about it.
"You can trust in Action Camels and Glenda Sutton as much as Glenda Sutton's Action Camels trust in her".
My camels and I have achieved some of the greatest records ever set in the history of Australian Camel Racing, and are already well on our way to setting many more in the future.
I encourage you to attend the camel race meetings listed on this website. And if you are interested in organising a camel race at another location please read the information I have provided in the racing section.
